Earn Screen Time collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no server and no analytics. The app never makes a network request.
The app
- Your data stays on your phone. Your blocked apps, your reserve of minutes, your settings and your unlock window are stored only on the device. There is no sync, no backup to us and no export. The one copy that can exist elsewhere is your own iOS backup, described below.
- Camera. The camera is used only to count pushups and squats. Frames are processed on the device as they arrive. They are never stored, recorded or uploaded.
- Screen Time. Blocking uses Apple's Screen Time API. The list of apps you choose to block is handled by iOS and is never visible to us.
- No third parties. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third-party tracking code.
What the app stores
Everything the app remembers lives on your phone. That is:
- the apps you chose to block,
- your minutes-per-pushup and minutes-per-squat settings,
- whether a note plays on each rep,
- the theme you picked (System, Light or Dark),
- your reserve of earned minutes,
- the exercise you used last,
- the time your current unlock ends, if one is running,
- the day your current day streak started, if you have one,
- while the app picker is open, the apps that were blocked when you opened it, so the app can tell whether you removed one; it is cleared when the picker closes,
- the time you last tapped Open on a shield and whether a notification went out for it; both are cleared once the app reaches the Unlock screen.
That is the whole list. There is no history of your sessions, no record of which apps you opened, and no identifier for you or your phone. The day streak is a single date, not a log of days.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Backups
This data sits in ordinary app storage, and iOS includes it in an iCloud or Finder backup of your device, which Apple runs and you control in iOS Settings. An app cannot opt out of that. The app never starts a backup itself.
Notifications
On iOS 26.5 and later the app does not ask for permission to post notifications and posts none: tapping Open on a shield opens the app directly.
On earlier iOS the app asks for permission and uses it for one thing. When you tap Open on a shield, the app posts a notification on your phone that takes you to the Unlock screen. It is created on the phone, says only “Tap to unlock your apps with pushups or squats.”, and does not name the app you were trying to open. Nothing is sent to a server to deliver it. If you turn notifications off, the shield tells you to open Earn Screen Time instead.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. The company that hosts it may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and the page requested) for security and operations.
The Help screen's “Send feedback” and “Get support” buttons open a draft in your phone's mail app. The app does not send the message: you do, if you choose to, and you can edit or delete anything in the draft first. Support drafts are pre-filled with the app version and your iOS version so a problem can be placed without a back-and-forth. If you have no mail app set up, the app shows the address so you can write from somewhere else.
If you write to support@earnscreentime.app, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply, and we do not share it. Mail you send is handled by your mail provider. Please do not include anything in it you would rather not share.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
